I expected to get the proverbial (very little English speaking) guy from India. I must give credit to Shoreland'rs customer service as they really epitomize what customer service should be, yet you don't see it at these levels with many products we buy especially the name brand ones. But I did want them to be aware that one of my bunks fungasized in less than 3 years! The channel was still covered under their 5 year warranty, but I read their warranty before I called them and I knew they didn't cover the bunks cause they are considered wear items. So since I started that other thread and some of the posters gave me suggestions I'm going to un-staple the bunk carpet and take the wood out and give it a few coats of poly before I remount them.Įach time I've had an issue with this trailer Van in customer service jumped right on it and at no charge to me. This stuff looked really scary, kept growing bigger by the week, yet hard as a rock when I tried to try and knock it off. He said they only use pine and it usually last for many years (Mine only lasted 2.5 seasons). I said at least you could coat it with poly or varnish to water proof the wood. I also asked him why they don't use pressure treated wood and he said they can't because of the state laws for what you can put in the lakes. but I called Mid West's customer service and spoke to Van, the same guy who replaced my channel last year and he said he will send me out two new bunks by UPS ASAP. It's still supportive though, because it's encased in the carpet. The end of the bunk cracked inside and then I noticed the fungus growing in the middle of the same bunk and now that snapped in the middle too. The consensus here was it was from moisture. I called their customer service and they sent me out a brand new channel at no charge.Ī month ago I posted a thread here asking if anyone ever had this yellow mushroom looking fungus growing out of their bunk carpet. Then the next year, I found the winch upright channel to be walking back and forth on the tongue as it could not be tightened down enough or the ears would start to bend. So Mid West sent them replacement tires for those trailers. The day in 2007 I went to pick up the new rig, they dealer found several of their trailers they had in stock had defective tire and would not let me drive it off the lot cause they found the tires to be defective. You get what you pay for and I knew this was not a high end trailer as I only paid $650 for it brand new. These trailers were manufactured by Mid West Industries. So My 2007 Lund was bought new and it came with a Lund branded and decal-ed Shoreland'r galvanized trailer. Sometime there is just a black cloud over a boat, motor or trailer etc. ![]()
